SCL operates with collective liberation at our core. We’re looking for…

  • The SCL Action Research Internship is an opportunity for Brookline-based youth to get involved in a local participatory action research project, providing them research experience and an opportunity to serve their community.

    Applications for the Fall 2026 cohort are open. Applications are open until Friday, July 3rd at 11:59pm est.

  • Members of the Action Center subteam create literal spaces and times for activists to work towards justice alongside other activists. There are a wide variety of roles within the Action Center subteam, which can be divided amongst members based on interest (in other words, if one of the responsibilities below doesn’t appeal to you, you don’t need to do that task specifically). 

    Responsibilities can include:

    • Programming: Regularly develop and host/facilitate various events including open hours, workshops, trainings, teach-ins, and reading circles; coordinate mentorship program; develop and manage mutual aid system

    • Manage the SCL community library: facilitate check-outs/returns, coordinate donations, reach out to publishers for donations

    • Coordinate guest speakers: find speakers, negotiate terms with speaker/agent, welcome and thank speakers

    • Encourage community amongst event attendees

    • Find a space where programming can be hosted

    You’d be a good fit if….

    • You’re a passionate activist

    • You want an opportunity to make change in your community

    • You like and/or have experience with event planning 

    • You’re creative, innovative, and full of ideas

    • You’re comfortable talking in front of/facilitating groups 

    • You like being in an educator, leadership, or direct service role

    • You have connections to other community/local organizations

  • Members of the Outreach subteam connect our team to the Brookline community and their needs by listening to their insight and engaging them in our work. There are a wide variety of roles within the Outreach subteam, many of which are divided amongst members based on interest (in other words, if one of the responsibilities below doesn’t appeal to you, you don’t need to do that task specifically). 

    Responsibilities can include:

    • Coordinate SCL’s social media (including Instagram and TikTok): make content, post regularly, engage with followers, connect with (potential) partners, build following, reply to DMs

    • Create graphics and art for SCL organization, programming, and promotion digitally and physically

    • Event Engagement: talk with community members at events to get feedback and insight, welcome event attendees, take photos/video

    • Student Outreach: amplify SCL to our audience, encourage membership and event attendance within student communities, seek feedback from students about programming

    • Community Outreach: amplify SCL to the broader Brookline community, collaborate with community/local partners and educators

    • Fundraising: create donation page content, amplify donation page, encourage donations, search for and apply to grants

    You’d be a good fit if….

    • You’re a good communicator, face-to-face, in writing, and over email

    • You’re creative and artistic

    • You’re engaging, personable, and comfortable talking with people

    • You have experience making social media posts (either personally or for an organization/group) 

    • You understand social media algorithms

    • You’re chronically online and want to put that expertise to use

    • You have experience or skill in the following areas: Canva, Adobe software (ex: Photoshop, Lightroom), various visual art mediums, photography, Google Forms, interviewing, networking, grant-writing

  • The SCL Action Center relies on the bonds between activists. Activists/community organizers with expertise to share or the time and bandwidth to problem-solve with youth activists are crucial to our work. 

    Responsibilities include:

    • Attend open hours and provide guidance and mentorship to youth activists

    • Encourage/facilitate network building between youth activists, local activists/organizations, and other allies

    • Regularly develop and host/facilitate workshops, trainings, and teach-ins

    • Be one member of a larger support system for youth activists

    You’d be a good fit if….

    • You have lessons you wish you knew as a younger activist

    • You like building genuine connections with those with a budding interest in your field(s)/special interest(s)

    • You want to impact the next generation of activists

    • You believe better education is key to liberation

  • Members of the Website subteam design and update the SCL website in order to let our community know who we are and what we can provide them.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Designing the SCL website using SquareSpace

    • Creating new pages for the website

    • Regularly updating website with news and developments

    • Write clear, concise content based on existing resources

    • Ensure the SCL website is accessible to a wide-range of disabled users

    You’d be a good fit if….

    • You have an eye for graphic and/or visual design 

    • You enjoy UX and UI design

    • You have experience with CSS and JavaScript (though this is not necessary!)

  • Members of the Team Management subteam help run the organization from a logistical, strategic, and administrative standpoint. The Team Management subteam has a wide variety of responsibilities; some are assigned specifically and some are shared.  

    Responsibilities include:

    • Unify all team members (across subteams) through communication and community building

      • Plan and facilitate team meetings

    • Keep team on track and encourage growth of organization

    • Problem-solve organizational weaknesses

    • Establish clear organization goals, focus, and structure

    • Coordinate administrative info including service hours, volunteer information, finances, and subteam goals and priorities

    • Recruit and onboard new members

    You’d be a good fit if…

    • You like taking on leadership roles

    • You’re organized, responsible, and reliable

    • You’re a good communicator

    • You’re strategic and like to problem solve 

    • You’re innovative and like to implement creative ideas

    • You’re a self-starter
